For the private classes,
I come to your home to teach you privately everything you need to know prior to going into labor. You may choose to
have either two 4 hour sessions, or one 8 hour session. This is a wonderful option for all those who are on medical
bedrest.
All classes include:
* Information on the anatomy, physiology of pregnancy and birth * Signs of Pre-labor and true labor
* The stages and phases of labor and birth
* Physical and emotional events during each stage of labor
* Comfort measures during the different phases and stages of labor and birth
* Positions for pushing and delivery
* Medications used during labor and birth
* Common interventions and procedures used during labor and birth

Cesarean section
* Recovery after vaginal and cesarean deliveries
* A full rehearsal of a labor with practice of
all relaxation and breathing techniques.

This class is ideal for the couple wanting more out of
their class than the traditional hospital childbirth class. It is designed to make everyone feel comfortable whether
they choose natural or medicated childbirth. I don't just teach you how to be a good patient, but how to take charge
of your decisions, and to be an informed participant in the birth of your child.
I teach a natural approach to
childbirth, while still educating about the interventions and medications that may be used in a hospital setting so even couples
who desire a natural childbirth will feel at ease when discussing possible changes to their birth requests.
In discussing the interventions, medications, and procedures, all benefits, risks, and alternatives will be discussed
so you and your partner may make an informed decision as to the care that will be best for you and your family.
By the end of the class, every couple will be able to write a personalized birth plan so as to inform your care providers
of your wishes.
You will also be given a large handbook of information that I have personally compiled that you
may take to your birth as a reference guide with any possible situation. No other class in this area offers this! :-)
