Is the TENS right for you?

Do you want to feel in control?
Do you want to avoid or postpone the eipdural?
Do you want pain relief without giving up movement or mental clarity?

What birth professionals have said about their clients using T.E.N.S!

I had a first time mom use the TENS from early labor (at 2:00pm) until just before pushing (at 4:00am).  That's 14 hours; she only took it off to use the shower and tub.  She did not receive any pain medication and when all the nurses asked if it helped or was merely a distraction she replied: "It REALLY helps, it cuts the pain in half.  It's much harder when I don't have it on."
I had a wonderful TENS birth late Sunday into early Monday.  My mom used the TENS early on and throughout her labor.  She asked to take it off as she started to push.  She was uncertain about it at first, but really loved it after getting used to it.  She delivered an 8lb 9oz boy... without any other intervention or medication.  Just a lot of gravity and birth dancing, back massage, and squatting which she did instinctively!  She felt very strongly that the TENS really helped her.
Last night into this morning I had another client use the TENS.  Her labor started with her water releasing at 6:30pm, contractions began soon after.  She applied the TENS right away and by 10:30pm contractions were 2-3 min apart.  She had been hit by a bus years earlier, and had bulging discs, the TENS really helped with her back pain.  She used the TENS until 4:30am (when she was 9+cm and in the shower/bath).  She gave birth at 5:54am, unmedicated and without intervention.

What is a T.E.N.S. unit?

TENS is short for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.

Using soft Stimulating pads, it transmits mild electrical impulses through the skin where it stimulates nerve fibers.

Once activated you will feel a pleasant pulsing sensation which will increase your own pain relieving chemicals known as
endorphins.

The TENS unit may provide reduction of labor pain with…..

●    Freedom to walk and move
●    Control of its use by woman
●    No loss of other sensations
●    No decrease of mental function
●    Continued active participation by woman
●    Postponement of request for epidural

There is NO reported harm to mother or baby.

Can be used with other pain reducing measures.

There are NO extra safety measure required.

TENS units available at no extra charge for all my clients upon request.
